Firefox Version 3 (5/21/2008) PDF Print E-mail

It's no secret that the technical team at ICS loves the Mozilla based browser: Firefox.  It has a better security record than Internet Explorer, and hosts hundreds of add-on / plug-ins that make web browsing more efficient.  Recently Firefox released a "beta" version of their browser, Firefox 3.0.

They have made dozens of improvements to an already feature impressive browser, but, the main improvement is the Speeeed!

Being a technical person, I install nearly every early release software I can get my hands on, and usually I get disappointed to find bugs, glitches, etc...  Not the case with Firefox 3!

The added features are numerous to list- but I will go over the few that make the Firefox 3 a definite Internet Explorer replacement.

  1. Speed- Firefox 3 launches extremely fast, uses less memory, and even closes quickly.
  2. Suggest / Type ahead address bar- Not all that new in browsers, but finally available in Firefox without a special plugin.
  3. Excellent integration with Online applications: Google Mail, Docs, Zoho Meetingand much more
  4. Less intrusive password / form data keeper - Firefox can store your passwords for you, auto fill form data too!
  5. Smaller / compacted toolbar -No more will you lose 3 inches of web browsing with all the add on toolbars.  You simply have all the necessary functionality built in without all that clutter!

These are the top three features added and improved upon in this new release candidate.

For the specifics, please visit the Firefox technical website which outlines in greater detail all of the improvements, tweaks and widgets now available in this version!  Link

PARTNERSHIP WITH ACCOUNTABLIT ANNOUNCED

ICS has formed a strategic partnership with West Bend based AccountablIT. The partnership brings together the enterprise IT talent of ICS and the enterprise IT processes of AccountablIT. This combination of skills and processes will allow both firms to further develop the Midsourcing model. Midsourcing is the process of emulating the presence of an in house IT department by means of remotely available IT talent through a 3rd party. The ultimate goal of midsourcing is to save a business from over spending in labor costs while guaranteeing levels of service similar to IT departments within an enterprise organization.
